HMS Appeal for donations 2022 - Thank you!
Update on our 2022 Appeal
We are delighted to announce that our appeal has been very successful, and we have achieved our target amount, and our plans for our new season in 2022-2023 are secure. We would like to thank all our subscribers and supporters who have been outstandingly generous in their donations.
We will be announcing our plans for the new season in the coming weeks, once we have finalised the arrangements.

Like many music clubs and societies across the country, Huddersfield Music Society has been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. We had to postpone our concerts when lockdown started in March 2020; it was not until September 2021 that we were at last able to restart at Huddersfield Parish Church.
We have had four concerts since then and they have gone very well, except for one thing: our audience numbers are much smaller than before the pandemic. This means that our income from ticket sales has been much reduced, and we are now having to draw on our limited reserves to pay our way to complete the remaining concerts this spring.
The implications for Huddersfield Music Society are serious. We urgently need to boost our ticket sales and subscriber levels to restore some of the income lost by the reduced attendance. If you have friends or family who might be persuaded to come along to our concerts, we would be delighted to welcome them.
This alone, however, will not be enough on its own to restore a position of financial security. Please: are you able to help us with a donation? Any amount you can spare would be welcome. I know that these are difficult times, with rising inflation added to higher living costs, but if you can help us out you would help us to keep going. We would be enormously grateful. If you are also able to donate so we can claim Gift Aid that would be even better.
Unless we can improve our financial position this summer, we are uncertain whether we can go ahead with a new season in the autumn. Please do what you can to help.
Here’s how donations can help:
£100 would help with the production and printing of programmes
£200 would help with musicians’ hotel bills.
£500 would support the fees for emerging young performers
£1000 would help us cover the costs of insurance and hire of our concert venue
£2000 would help us pay the fees for more established performers
We will of course observe any requests for discretion/anonymity if required, or if you wish, we can name you as a sponsor on our programmes.
Donations can be made directly to our bank, or by cheque, payable to Huddersfield Music Society. On concert nights donations can be made by debit/credit card on the door (except 21st March). Please contact the Secretary if you need more information.
